Introduction
Our 2023 Inclusion Matters Gala was a huge success! We are so grateful for the organizations, businesses, and patrons who came and supported us! We’d love to bring you along for a little recap of the evening, just in case you weren’t able to attend.
A Vibrant Start
Our Inclusion Matters Gala was held in the beautiful Garden Room at Thanksgiving Point. The purpose of the event was to inspire inclusion of neurodiverse persons in our communities with the goal of raising funds for the Inclusion Matters Video Project and the Autism Solutions Academy Scholarship Fund.
The evening began with hors d’oeuvres, mingling, photos, and viewing the amazing auction items that were donated by many generous donors and businesses across Utah.
Unexpected Thrills
Next came dinner and our auction. We had some technical difficulties so what was supposed to be a silent auction became a live auction. Our amazing founder, Lacey Anderson did a fantastic job as the auctioneer.
Inspiring Insights
Melissa Rogers, a captivating speaker, took the stage to offer insights into the origins and evolution of Autism Solutions Academy. Her words resonated deeply, emphasizing the remarkable impact this organization has made in transforming lives. Following Melissa’s presentation, Lacey Anderson took the spotlight, revealing the current Inclusion Matters Project. This project aims to empower students and their families by sharing their stories and nurturing communities’ spirit of inclusion. Through professionally produced short films, each student’s unique journey is celebrated, inspiring all to embrace autism with open hearts and minds. At the close of her presentation, she unveiled our newest short film, showcasing the profound impact these films can have and capturing the vibrant essence of one of our students, highlighting the joys and unique aspects of their personality.
Laughter and Joy
The gala took an enchanting turn as autistic comedian and author Michael McCreary stepped onto the stage. With his impeccable wit and unparalleled comedic talent, Michael had the audience in stitches. His performance radiated joy and showcased the immense talent that resides within the autistic community.
