Tuition and Scholarships

When applying for one of these scholarships, you will be required to waive any and all rights to public education programs including after school programs. The funding you receive from any of the above mentioned scholarships will go towards your private school tuition which covers the special education services you receive at the school.

The Carson Smith Opportunity Scholarship is not accepting new applications. Students who were on the Carson Smith Scholarship will be grandfathered into the Carson Smith Opportunity Scholarship. Remaining tuition not covered by the Carson Smith Opportunity Scholarship is supplemented with the Autism Solutions Academy Scholarship.

The scholarship coordinator will assist parents in applying for this scholarship.

The 2024 Utah State Legislature passed a bill merging the Special Needs Opportunity Scholarship program with the Carson Smith Scholarship program. New students will apply for the new scholarship. Students who were on Carson Smith will stay on it until their three-year evaluation is up. All of the terms and conditions of the program will remain the same, and then the program will continue to be administered by USBE.

When parents are applying for the scholarship they will be approved based on the household income and number of children in the family. You will need to provide your 2023 federal 1040 tax return and any additional dependent statements that were filed with the return. A student will be approved for the full amount if they are approved for 180+ minutes of special education services. If they are approved for 180 minutes or less, they will only be approved for the partial scholarship.
