November 15, 2024 marked an exciting milestone for Autism Solutions Academy and our partner company, Autism Solutions. We celebrated the opening of our newly renovated and furnished Clearfield building! This building will function both as a day treatment center and as a school.
We are thrilled that our building is finally in a place that can welcome students. The renovation process has been long. The many hands that have helped work on this building are finally able to see the finished product. We are excited about having spacious classrooms, wider hallways, well-equipped therapy only rooms, a relaxing sensory room, accessible bathrooms, a professional conference room, and comfortable direct instruction rooms with windows in each classroom.
This building will be a place where we strive daily to achieve our mission of providing effective and inclusive education that is integrated into the community and driven by compassion, connection, and science.
Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony
We were honored to partner with the Davis County Chamber of Commerce to perform a ribbon cutting at our newest location. Lacey and David Anderson, the founders of Autism Solutions Academy, cut the ribbon symbolizing the opening the doors of this building to high-quality education for autistic students!
It was wonderful to share in the struggles and joys of those who live with autism. Some of the Davis County Chamber members are linked with autism and are vibrant supporters of our mission. We are thankful for the outpouring of community strength we have felt in establishing our presence in Clearfield!
Classroom Furniture & Smart Boards
Many students struggle in traditional school settings because they need to move but are often not encouraged to. At our facility, due to two generous grants from our community partners, we have been able to outfit our Clearfield center with high-quality furniture for students, including flexible seating options like beanbags, floor chairs, and stools. The stools we purchased are especially beneficial because students can sit at their desks while rocking or moving in circles on their stools. One of our current students can often be seen working diligently at his desk while moving around on his stool. We are so excited about providing these options to more students. Movement matters!
Additionally, we have several more partners who have made possible our vision of putting a smart board in each classroom. We have installed four boards in Clearfield and more will be coming soon to fill the rest of the classrooms! Smart boards contribute to our inclusive environment by functioning as communication tools for non-verbal students and by offering additional methods for teacher-student communication, not to mention the exciting features that help increase engagement and interest with students. Our teachers are excited for what these communication tools will bring to their classrooms for engaging students in learning.
